United We Serve

United We Serve is a new summer service initiative launched by President Obama that runs through September 11, 2009, the new National Day of Service and Remembrance. Find out how you and your organization can connect with others giving back in your community.

United We Serve encourages Americans to create meaningful change in their communities by connecting them with service opportunities in their area. If your organization has service opportunities, you can get involved in this national effort by registering your project online at United We Serve.

Recruit and organize your friends, family, and neighbors to develop their own service projects that address pressing community needs in partnership with local organizations. United We Serve features toolkits for developing projects in education, health, energy and the environment, and community renewal.

You and your organization can also build bridges to other organizations and activities in your community through United We Serve.

Volunteer for a project or program that already exists. The United We Serve website features a volunteer matching platform that allows people to search for volunteer opportunities based on location and interests.
