Gulf Coast Regional Representative: Ben Bass
Ben is the Executive Director of the El Paso Alliance and in recovery since 1987. He started out as a volunteer at the Alliance and has been Executive Director since May, 2002. Ben has led the Alliance in organizing and mobilizing the recovery community and in developing an ddeliving peer-based recovery support services.
The Alliance has contracts with the State of Texas to deliver peer recovery support services for people with co-occurring disorders, drug court offenders and probationers; and two federal projects. Ben is on the Task Force for the Texas Recovery Initiative which seeks to move the state’s alcohol and drug service delivery system into a recovery-,oriented system of care. He is also an advisory board member of the Gulf Coast Addiction Technology Transfer Center and serves on several other boards, including leadership in the El Paso Coalition for the Homeless.
The Alliance operates a peer-run residential recovery facility called Casa Vida de Salud in El Paso that wraps services around individuals and guides people into the recovery community through immersion in the culture of recovery.
