Regional Representative: Patty McCarthy

Patty McCarthy is the Director of Friends of Recovery- Vermont (FOR-VT), a statewide grassroots recovery advocacy and education organization based in Montpelier, Vermont. She currently serves as Vice-President of the Vermont Drug and Alcohol Coalition, a consultant with the Recovery Community Services Program and a member of the National Advisory Council of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Advancing Recovery initiative. Her primary interest is in strengthening policies and systems to be more inclusive of the valuable skills, talents and contributions of the recovery community.

As a person in long-term recovery since November 1989, I am personally and professionally committed to helping individuals and families speak out and support each other as they advocate for recovery. To me, recovery is living, not just surviving. It’s about helping others, being active in the recovery process, learning something new each day, being happy and loving it!. Recovery works and is making life better for millions of Americans.
