Tracy Solomon
I had a good upbringing. When I finished high school, two years later I met my husband. He owned a Seafood Restaurant where I worked for over 15 years and helped out. The arrival of my first child was a handsome little boy named Pierre' who at the age of 4 backed into some shelving outside the restaurant. The shelves (3-7ft metal shelves) fell over and broke his spine between C2& C3. Pierre' lived for seven months. I went to friends for comfort and they introduced me to drugs to "forget" everything instead. Being vunerable I participated.
I struggled after that keeping jobs, and drained my bank account. I started stealing in stores to support my habit until I ended upstate in Prison. I finally had the chance to listen to the soft voice of God who said this wasn't what he had in store for my life. I returned home, got a sponsor, and a homegroup, did the 12 steps and never looked back. Today, I've accomplished my Associate's degree in Human Service Management, and I'm finishing up my BA in Science of Psychology in June 2012. I've worked for women coming home from prison, and a Drug and alcohol facility. I'm a Motivational Speaker, and I've shared at White Deer Run in Allenwood, High Schools, Alternative Schools, and I take the Prison Ministry in the County Prison here where I live.
Oct.6th 2012, "we" will be celebrating 8 wonderful years clean. I still struggle at times, lost both parents in recovery, and then unemployment struck my area and I had to turn in both my vehicles because of lack of money to keep them. Not knowing where my next meal is coming from I never gave up. I have faith and I have a program today....and using is "NOT" an option. I encourage individual's along the way that they don't have to use drugs no matter what. Even if someone dies, loses a job, their vehicles, a bad relationship, nothing. For me, staying clean must come first, and my worse day today, is still better then those days when I was out there in empty buildings trying to get the next one. God is so good, and to God I give the Glory. Without God, and the Program of NA, I don't know where I'd be today. And I know my son Pierre' is looking down on me and is so proud of his mother.
God bless.
